Which finish for which room

Gold is ceremony — galas, awards, premieres, premium store openings. Black recedes into venues that already have a strong look, and black post with black rope is the most discreet combination we rent. Silver is the corporate neutral: showrooms, office lobbies, demo areas.

Gold and black posts carry ropes in red, white, black, pink or navy. Silver posts are stocked with blue or red. Check that before a launch is planned around a specific colour.

Ropes are 5ft, and that sets the count

One post per 5ft of line, plus one to finish it. Thirty feet of line comes to seven posts and six ropes. Rope needs more posts than belt for the same distance, and that closer rhythm is exactly what makes an entrance look arranged rather than managed.

Rope and carpet

A carpet runner without posts is a rug. Posts down both sides keep the edge straight, stop people cutting across it and give a photograph its frame. Count them along the length of the carpet at one every five feet, plus one at each end.

Indoors, mostly

The bases are weighted discs made for hard floors: on grass they sink, on gravel they rock, and velvet does not like rain. For an exposed approach, use barricades or belt posts outside and keep the rope for the door.
